This project includes the rehabilitation of one of the two influent pump stations for the Blue Plains AWWTP, the country's largest advanced wastewater treatment plant. The majority of the work shall take place during scheduled 10-week and 12-week shutdowns. During the shutdowns the following modifications will be made:
- Install new 5 KV Switchgear and Pump Control Panel
- Replace existing 66-inch and 60-inch interior pump discharge piping
- Install a cured-in-place pipe liner in the existing underground discharge piping
- Install new 60 MGD vertical centrifugal pump
- Install a new fully automated vacuum priming system for the influent pumps
- Install a vibration and temperature monitoring system for the existing influent pumps.
During the two shutdowns, half of the pump station shall remain online at all times. This requires USC to work closely with DC WASA personnel to ensure a satisfactory level of plant operations during construction. The project also includes a new HVAC system, rehabilitation of the existing masonry exterior, rehabilitation of an existing 20-ton overhead bridge crane, and various other renovations to the pump station.
