The Rehabilitation of the Upper Anacostia Pumping Station consists of construction of a new underground pumping station and a new control building on the site of an existing pumping station in the city of Washington, DC. The pumping station shares a property line with an elementary school in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Washington. This requires USC to work together with the school and the neighborhood to minimize the disturbance.
The scope of work on this project includes the following:
- Construction of a 40 foot deep underground pumping station
- Installation of four (4) new submersible pumps and associated piping
- Installation of underground sewer lines to the new pumping station
- Construction of a new control building including new MCC's and VFD's.
Due to the location and depth of the pumping station, the excavation for the structure and related underground sewer lines has required installation of a sheet piling excavation support system.
