USC completed the construction of a new Administration Building, Preliminary Treatment Facilities, a new Primary Clarifier and modifications to the existing Primary Sludge Pump Station.
The Project included:
- Retrofit of the existing Aeration Tanks and two (2) existing Final Clarifiers and modification of four (4) existing Effluent Filters.
The following were all newly constructed:
- Four (4) new Anaerobic/Anoxic/Aerobic Tanks, Blower Building, NRCY Pump Station, four (4) Final Clarifiers, two (2) RAS Pump Stations, three (3) Effluent Filters, two (2) Fermentation Tanks and Facilities, DAF Tank and Facilities, Plant Drain Pump Station, miscellaneous junction boxes and yard piping of various types ranging in sizes up to 72-inch in diameter.
Construction of the Project required demolition of 6,600 cubic yards of concrete, excavation and backfill of 300,000 cubic yards of soil and rock, temporary soil nailing excavation support, 4,000 tons of reinforcing steel and placement of 32,200 cubic yards of concrete.
Extensive planning, scheduling and temporary operations were required to maintain the plant in service during construction.
